With
Michigan’s local public health agencies
receiving
$4.2 million less than the $11.5 million
required to maintain current levels of emergency
preparedness in the instance of disaster;
as your
Oakland County Commissioner
I am prepared to lead
the fight to
redistribute the current funding between the
State
of Michigan and local public health departments
to assure local residents have the protection
they
deserve.
I am also prepared to assist
my colleagues in
lobbying the Center for Disease
Control for additional
funding, as well as
working with our state legislators
and the Michigan
Department of Community Health to
develop
new funding strategies.
