The
Spring storms in Oakland County highlight
the need
for more professionally
trained electric line construction
workers in Michigan.
As your
Oakland County Commissioner I will
advocate for
creation of a Michigan
Energy Trades Institute.
This
national training center headquartered
in Oakland
County will produce
highly skilled utility workers to
meet
skilled labor demands in Michigan
and across the nation.
Creation of high skill and high wage jobs
is exactly the medicine Michigan needs
to reverse its downward
economic
spiral. Along with R& D
credits
for businesses that bring green energy
product and efficiency
skilled trade
opportunities to Oakland County.
I
will propose granting economic
incentives to offset capital gains
taxes for new energy business start-ups.
Along with apprenticeship training in line
clearance & construction, the Institute
will provide courses designed
to meet the job demands associated with
emerging and alternative energy sectors
inclusive of commercial
and industrial HAVC efficiency evaluation, electric
lighting system retrofitting, fuel
cell installation and repair.
I will advance
manufacturing of commercial
and industrial LED and induction
lighting products.
