No
one is better equipped to solve the challenges of local
communities than local government; because unlike Washington,
we know what our priorities are.
The recent trend of State’s to abrogate more and more power and
financial resources to the Congress not only diminishes the
financial
capability of local government to respond adequately to its citizens; it
also fosters
poorly conceived unfunded federal policies and program
mandates which do not
solve local challenges and annually threaten
local government
solvency.
I stand ready to help my colleagues on the Oakland County
Commission
to develop 10th Amendment strategies to reclaim Michigan’s rights
and powers of local
government, and our local control duly authorized
by the Constitution; whether by bringing court cases, or
lobbying with resolution in hand the Michigan
Legislature and Congress.
