I
oppose Michigan’s continued status as a donor state. Why
should
we continue to send more gas tax revenue to Washington than they
return
to us when our roads and bridges are in such disrepair?
Twenty-five
percent of our roads are in poor condition. With our State
economy being what it is, and gas prices soaring, we simply cannot
afford to
continue doing this. As your Oakland County Commissioner,
I will fight along
side of our Congressional delegation for a justifiable
exemption to the
requirement that a local match be provided
as a
condition of the use of federal funds; based on the imbalance
in the
dollars we send to Washington versus what they
provide
in return to us
for road repair….and I will oppose any gas tax
increase!
